Snip Capture Tool

If you ever have a need to make short how-to videos of a program or task on your computer, or to make a video of yourself doing a tutorial or to  record a project, a simple and easy program called Snip Capture Tool is all you need.

The program is free and can be downloaded from this website:  https://mix.office.com/Home/SetupSnip

Once installed the program sets itself up as a hidden menu at the top of your screen.  You can move it anywhere you want around the edge and it will hide itself when not in use.  There are three options to choose from:  Capture, Whiteboard, and Camera.

Capture, allows you to grab either your entire screen or a manually selected area of the screen by clicking and dragging a selection window similar to this:

After you have made your selection, the Snip Editor will open and from here you can record audio and mark-up the image.

You can select pen settings, colors, switch to a highlighter to highlight information in the image.  An eraser is available, in case you need to remove something.

Once finished, you have the options of copying your Snip to the clipboard to paste into another program, share via email, and save the file as a new PNG image.

The Whiteboard feature basically brings up a blank canvas for you to mark-up and the options available are the same as Capture.

Lastly the Camera feature, allows you to make use of your webcam or built-in camera for laptops.  It includes all the features as before and they function the same.  The difference is you can take a picture of yourself, or another object, and mark it up as well.

This is a nifty, little program.  Check it out yourself!
